NPHET have announced today’s number of positive coronavirus tests and it’s a drop from yesterday’s figures.

4,842 new cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland today and 9 more people with the virus have died.

That’s almost a 4,000 case drop from yesterday’s high total of 8,248.

In terms of the split of infections, 1,049 are in Dublin,

The next highest infection totals are 530 in Cork, 514 in Waterford, 405 in Wexford and 247 in Louth.

The country’s 14 day incidence rate now sits at 1162.2.

1,293 coronavirus patients are in hospital, of which 119 are in ICU.

In the north, 1,442 new cases of Covid-19 were announced.

9 further deaths had also been recorded in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 674 patients with the virus in the North’s hospitals. 47 people are being treated in ICU.
