Senior Ministers are discussing the latest developments in the vaccine programme at their weekly Cabinet meeting this afternoon.

People aged 59 have been signing up for their vaccine today as the online portal opened to people in their 50s.

The HSE has recommended that the rollout should continue based on age, with older people getting a vaccine first.

Dr Denis McCauley, chair of the Irish Medical Organisation’s GP committee, believes it’s the fairest way.

Meanwhile, people who’ve received the first dose of their Covid-19 vaccine are being urged to show up for their second.

It’s after data from the CDC in the US found 8 per cent of patients or 5 million people there, may have missed their second dose.

Trinity College Dublin immunologist, Professor Luke O’Neill is concerned a similar pattern could emerge here:
