A European recommendation for people to wear face masks for air travel has been scrapped.
The decision by the European Aviation Safety Agency and European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control will take effect from next week.
They say it’s down to the current levels of vaccination and natural immunity, along with the lifting of restrictions across member states.
Does that mean I definitely don’t have to wear a mask on my flight?
No. The European recommendations is exactly that – a recommendation.
That means, it’ll now be up to individual governments and airlines to update their own rules.
As always, you should check with your airline before you travel, as well as the country you’re flying to, about what their requirements and recommendations are before and during your journey, and once you arrive at your destination.
