Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a suspected arson attack in Co. Louth last night.

A woman and three young children managed to escape the fire at a house in Drogheda.

Gardaí and fire services were alerted to the blaze at the house in Laurence’s Park in Drogheda at around 20 to ten last night.

A woman in her 30s and three young children who were in the property at the time were rescued. They were assessed by emergency services at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

The fire was quickly brought under control but considerable damage was caused to the property. An investigation’s now underway into what Gardai suspect was an arson attack. The scene is currently preserved for forensic examination and no arrests have been made at this stage.
