How much does it cost to send a horse’s tail via priority post?

A horse’s tail, a dried bat and 37 crocodile teeth were among the items that people have tried to get into the country through the post over the past two years.

According to the Irish Times, the contraband came from countries including Cameroon, Indonesia, India and Japan.

A package containing 89 dried insects was also intercepted by Customs’ anti-smuggling teams at An Post’s Portlaoise mail centre in May 2018 while in July of the same year, they seized a package that contained two exotic live beetles who survived the long journey from Japan.

A spokesman for Revenue told the paper its Customs Division has anti-smuggling teams stationed at all main ports and airports, as well as at the country’s main postal depots.
