MPs have voted in favour of a Brexit amendment which forces the British Prime Minister to seek a Brexit extension.

It also means there now won’t be a meaningful vote on Boris Johnson’s deal today in the House of Commons.

The idea was put forward by former cabinet minister, Oliver Letwin, who says it’s simply an “insurance policy” to prevent a no deal.

The amendment would withhold support for Mr Johnson’s deal until all the legislation that’s needed to be passed is in place.
