It’s after a man who had been in the hospital tested positive for the virus.
Sixty staff at Cork University Hospital have been placed in self isolation after a case of Coronavirus at the hospital.
Yesterday a man who had been treated at CUH was confirmed to have Covid 19 in the first case of community transmission.
It’s understood he had been in the hospital for up to a week and was in contact with a number of people before he was tested.
The number of new cases in the Republic doubled last night, and now stands at 13.
The hospital has also imposed strict rules on visitors and cancelled the majority of outpatient appointments.
HSE representative Martin Cormican said some hospital services could be suspended if it continues to spread.
”One of the things that we can do is redeploy people,” he said.
”So for example you suspend some services that are less urgent and many health care services across Europe will be doing this.”
