A decision on proceeding with phase two of the road map will come on June 5th.
The Taoiseach has suggested the plan for unlocking the country can be sped up if the medical evidence remains strong.
However Leo Varadkar warned people need to hold the line and wait for more evidence ahead of a June 5th decision on proceeding to phase two.
Health Minister Simon Harris has told the Dáil the reproductive rate of the virus remains stable at between 0.4 and 0.5.
”All of our efforts now, an entire national effort must be to keep the reproduction number below one, he said.
”The temptation might be to think that the battle is won and that we can drop our guard at last, and that would be an extremely dangerous position to adopt because unfortunately it’s not the case”.
