Young people are being advised to limit their sexual encounters to online or phone calls to stop the the spread of Covid-19.

The Irish Independent reports that the HSE will be placing leaflets in pharmacies with the latest guidelines.

Members of the health service are reportedly concerned people may be more inclined to disregard physical distancing as restrictions are eased.

Other European countries have issues similar advice previously, with the Dutch government encouraging people to have a lockdown ‘cuddle buddy’ or ‘sex buddy’ in order to limit the number of people in close contact with each other.

Cork GP Nick Flynn says this message is an odd one when it’s compared with other measures.
