Another person has died from Covid-19 in the Republic, and 204 new cases have been announced.

It brings to seven the total number of deaths here, while there are now 1,329 confirmed cases.

The patient who died was a male in the east of the country.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, there have been five deaths related to Coronavirus. A patient in their 80s with an underlying health condition passed away at Antrim Hospital.

Northern Ireland’s Health Minister Robin Swann says their deaths “must be never become mere statistics”.

Earlier today, it was announced that every hospital in the country is to be run by the HSE during the coronavirus emergency. The State is taking full control of all private hospitals, adding 2,000 beds, nine labs and thousands of staff to the public health system.
