The Road Safety Authority is warning motorists not to be lulled into a false sense of security as the red weather warning is lifted today.
People are being reminded to exercise extreme caution despite the improvement in conditions.

An orange snow and ice warning is in place for Munster, Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan, with a yellow alert for Connacht and Donegal.
At a meeting of the National Emergency Co-ordination Group, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said while things are improving, roads surfaces are treacherous in many areas.
Meanwhile, public transport is running again and all airports are open but people are being advised to expect delays.
