Things wont stay as hot. But it won't be cold either.

After being extremely slow out of the blocks, summer is finally starting to show us what it's capable of.

For the next three days, we can be safe in the knowledge that the sun isn't going anywhere, and temperatures will remain in the high 20s.

But what about the weekend? And beyond? Because we could get kind of used to this...

Here's what Met Éireann is predicting into next week.

Thursday (today).

Met Eireann's status yellow alert for high temperatures in counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick remains valid until 7pm.

Heavenly highs of of 22 to 28 degrees expected around the country, the national forecaster says the highest temperatures will be seen in the southwest.

Friday:

Friday will be similar to today, with highest temps between 21 to 27 degrees, a few degrees lower along south coasts in onshore moderate southeasterly breezes.

However there is the risk of an isolated heavy or thundery downpour in the west.

Saturday:

Thankfully Saturday will still be warm with top temperatures around 20 to 25 degrees, but it'll be slightly cooler in the southwest and near west coasts.

And there may be a few showers likely to be ''heavy or thundery, especially over the eastern half of the country.''

Sunday:

Sunday will be a slightly cooler and breezier day, top temperatures are expected to drop to around 17 to 20 degrees, and will be warmest in the east.

''There will be scattered showers and some sunny spells, showers will be more frequent and heavier in the northwest and north.''

Monday:

The early forecast suggests temperatures will return to more normal levels for summer with highs of 16 to 20 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday:

It's looking good so far for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Met Eireann is saying conditions will be ''settled'' with temperatures close to normal for this time of year or slightly above.

Doesn't sound too bad at all! It's no 2018... but it's better than having to wear a coat in June.
