There’s a warning that dermal fillers can cause permanent deformities if not properly administered.
Industry experts say dermal fillers should only be injected by trained medical professionals.
They are calling for strict regulations in the area and say they are needed as a matter of urgency.
Health Minister Simon Harris is considering banning under 18s from being able to get botox and fillers.
Director of the Amara Aesthetic Clinic Ronan Butler says the day courses on offer to learn how to administer the injections are not good enough.
“It’s complex anatomy, there’s fat pads in the face, there are layers of musculature, there are a whole load of arteries, there are some nerves that to be taken into account as well. All of our doctors assess this at the point of treatment, they’re all very, very aware of it.”
