Here's the counties most likely to get a white Christmas

2 counties are joined at the top spot.

If you want a white Christmas this year, then we know where your best bet is, location wise.

On the other hand, we also where you won't wanna be if you don't wanna see any snow this year.

Met Éireann has already predicted we're going to see the first snow this weekend due to the presence of Storm Arwen.

But what about a white Christmas?

New research from The Digital PR hub at Legacy Communicationshas revealed the counties with the highest likelihood of snow this December 25th.

And Donegal and Tyrone have tied for the top spot at 60% likelihood.

Meanwhile, Fermanagh came in third with 50%.

That was followed by Clare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Roscommon, and Westmeath. 

At the bottom end was Kerry and Waterford - they both got 0% likelihood.

Most other counties sat somewhere in between - so a lot of places at least have a 20% chance of a white Christmas.

Legacy used TimeAndDate.com and Met Éireann to gather extensive data on weather conditions for each county over the past ten years.

They used that then to figure out which counties were most likely to get snow for Christmas 2021.

Weather expert, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather said: “Some weather signals are showing a risk of a colder spell of weather early in the winter which would increase the chances potentially of a cold spell in December.

“Your best chances for snow are always the north or the east. Generally, northern areas will always have a better chance, so Ulster counties because they’re closer to the northerly cold air - The closer you are to that cold air the better the chances are.”
