The Irish passport is now more powerful than the UK and US

The Irish passport remains one of the most powerful passports in the world, according to the 2020 Henley Passport Index (HPI).

The index says that Irish people have visa-free access to 185 countries around the globe ranking above the United States and the United Kingdom, who can gain entry to 184 countries without a visa.

Overall Ireland ranks seventh alongside Austria, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland.

Japan meanwhile sits in the number one spot with access to 191 countries, followed by Singapore in second (190) and Germany and South Korea in third (189).

5 Denmark, Luxemburg, Spain  - Access to 187 countries

8 - Belgium, Greece, Norway, United Kingdom, United States- Access to 184 countries

9 - Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Malta, New Zealand - Access to 183 countries
