The funeral of Tadg and Diarmuid O'Sullivan has taken place this afternoon.

The funeral of Tadg and Diarmuid O'Sullivan has heard they have gathered today to make "sense of the senseless".

Mass for the father and son is taking place at St. Mary's church, Castlemanger Co. Cork this afternoon, after they died along with Tadg's eldest son Mark, in a triple family tragedy in Kanturk, Co.Cork on Monday.

Parish Priest Father Toby Bluitt has told the congregation that the shock, numbness and devastation was impossible to imagine and the loss of the three lives is incomprehensible.

During the homily he said it seemed like a darkness had enveloped the O'Sullivan family and the local community over the past number of days.

Tadg was described as accommodating, friendly and happy, while Diarmuid had finished his accountancy studies at CIT in June and was due to have his conferring online next week.

Fr. Bluitt said he didn't minimise the loss of their lives by trying to provide easy answers because he said, there are no answers.

“One would imagine that life was full of possibilities for him,” he said.

“One could also say that both Tadg and Diarmuid touched many people’s lives along the way as they journeyed through life.

“Their lives and deaths have changed you all and you will never be the same again.

“So today, gathered together in our grief, we do not minimise the loss of their lives by trying to provide easy answers.

“Because there are no answers.”

A separate funeral service for Mark O'Sullivan will be live streamed tomorrow at 3.30pm from the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kanturk.
