The Teachers’ Union of Ireland believes the Leaving Cert can go ahead this year.

The class of 2021 has missed around 40 per cent of the curriculum because of Covid 19.

Schools aren’t expected to return in full until after St Patrick’s Day.

Despite this, Michael Gillespie from the Teachers’ Union of Ireland believes the exams can go ahead.

He says as exam time gets closer, different situations will continue to be taken into account.

However a petition calling for predicted grades to at least be made an option to the class of 2021 has been signed by thousands of people.
