Spending will be capped at €30 per car.

McDonald's will be reopening several of it's locations around the Dublin area today.

The Dublin based branches at East Wall, Artane, Nutgrove, Tallaght, Kylemore Road and Malahide Roadarea will open for drive-thru as part of a phased reopening.

It's been eight weeks since McDonald's closed all of its restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

New safety measures will be in place for staff and transactions will be limited to €30 per car.

And people will only be able to visit their local McDonald's if it is within a 5km radius of their home.

The new safety measures include:

  • Spending will be capped at Drive Thrus at €30 per car, and customers are encouraged to use contactless payment
  • Contact-free thermometers will be installed into food preparation areas for staff
  • Fewer staff members on shift mean there will be a reduced menu available
  • Perspex screens in key locations in the kitchen and service areas in stores
  • Protective equipment for staff members including gloves for customer and courier facing positions and face masks
  • Staff will be subject to additional training on cleanliness procedures as well as expected to increase sanitization of points of contact around the restaurants
