Caradh caught up with Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry on iScore today following her Olympic qualification earlier this week. Mona talked about her focus on the upcoming European Championships as well as the Olympic Games in Tokyo which are less than three months away.

She also spoke about her recent success at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 2021 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in the US. The NCAA have been criticised for their treatment of athletes and their position of not paying athletes. While McSharry doesn’t feel athletes should necessarily be paid she does believe that she should be permitted to promote herself. “It would be nice to be able to promote myself, I guess, which were not really allowed to do right now”.
