Shoppers who chase supermarket vouchers in a bid to bag a bargain are actually spending more.
That's according to new research this morning, which show shoppers are actually spending an additional 477 euro a year.
The study carried out by Coyne research showed people were spending more than 9 Euro in order to get discount vouchers.
Managing Director of Coyne research Bernie Coyne said people are buying things they don't need:
"When we ask them a direct question - in the last year have you ever intentionally overspent, shopped more frequently or bought something you didn't need to, in order to qualify for money-off vouchers in a supermarket - 50% percent of all adults agree that they did."
