We think we’re pretty qualified for this one…
There’s a job going that will actually pay you to shop online.
Yep. A funding firm called Outfund is on the lookout for what they’re calling ‘Social Spenders’.
Unfortunately, successful candidates won’t be simply able to hop onto their favourite clothing website and buying a massive haul. Instead, the role involves scrolling through social media and buying from ads that catch your eye.
You’ll also get around €1,670 (£1,500) spending money to do so and of course, you get to keep whatever you purchase with that amount.
The role is for one month initially and as well as the spending money, the daily rate is around €78 (£70).
Outfund will be hiring five spenders in total and the job involves a little bit more than just clicking ‘Add to Cart’.
If hired, you’ll have to track every single ad you see on social media as well as document what kind of ad it is, the platform you saw it on, the date and time it popped up for you and whether you bought it or not. You’ll also have to monitor how long you’re on each platform before an ad appears and how many times you saw an ad before you decided to purchase.
You’d also be required to send screenshots of the ads you spotted that convinced you to buy – just so they can make sure you’re not just spending it all on PrettyLittleThing. You’d also have to file a report for each purchase.
The role means a minimum of 2.5 hours of work a week. It’s also required that you spend at least 30 minutes on each social media platform a day, five days a week (which you’re probably doing anyway).
Sound too good to be true?
Outfund say they’re hiring people in this role to determine which social media platforms best deliver ads to target audiences. They then hope to share the data with the companies they fund to help with their marketing strategies.
Their CEO Daniel Lipinski said:
“We’re looking for candidates on a one month freelance contract basis to help with our initial research, but depending how things go it might be something we end up looking into regularly to ensure we’re up to date with everything a startup business might need, regardless of the industry they’re in.
“We’re really excited to get started and encourage any serial shoppers and social media lovers to apply!”
No experience is necessary but you have to be over 18, fluent in English, have active social media accounts and boast decent writing and literacy skills.
