There will be no time limit, as long as 2 metre distance can be maintained.

New draft guidelines for the reopening of all pubs have been drawn up by Fáilte Ireland.

Pubs will only be able to serve people at tables when they reopen, but there'll be no time limit on sittings where a two metre distance can be maintained.

All customers will have to be off the premises by half past eleven.

This means nightclubs and late bars won't be getting back to normal trade under the proposed guidelines.

Licensed Vintners' Association Chief Executive Donal O'Keeffe says publicans now need a date to prepare reopening.

''We were scheduled to open originally on the 20th of July, then the 10th of August, then the 31st of August'', he said.

''So now we still do not have a date, there are a lot of encouraging signs around a September reopening''.

''But because we've had so many disappointments the critical thing for us now is to have absolute clarity on a date''.
