There’s been heavy criticism of a march held by republican group, Saoradh, in Dublin yesterday – with Justice Minister, Charlie Flanagan, calling it “very disturbing”.

Men and women, dressed in military-style uniforms, paraded on O’Connell Street yesterday afternoon.

Minister of State for Defence, Paul Kehoe, issued a statement today saying all right-thinking members of the public would be sickened by the event, in the wake of the killing of journalist Lyra McKee in Derry on Thursday night.

Fianna Fáil spokesperson on defence, Jack Chambers, says paramilitary-style marches should be banned;

“They’re totally unrepresentative and their views are way off what most people want to see of the North and peace there.

So I think it’s time we look at our licencing laws and oversight of how people can walk through our streets.”
