We spend so much of our time scrolling on apps these days that a lot of sponsored content just breezes by without us noticing.

But every so often there’s one product or ad that jumps out, and even if you don’t buy it, you might stick around to find out more.

And sometimes, it just might be enough for you to whip out the debit card and head to the checkout.

A study has found almost a quarter of people use social media apps to shop online.

New research from Visa found that one in three 18 to 35 year olds have “swiped up” on an ad on social media to make a purchase, with the trend also popular with over 55s.

41 percent of “Swipe Up Shoppers” in Ireland only buy from influencers that are transparent about sponsored contents.
