The products with a batch code of H9TMKA 44 33 are affected by the alert.

A brand of hot sauce is being recalled, after it emerged the contents of the popular Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce could explode when opened.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland says this poses a risk of skin or eye irritation.

The product is a 740 millimetre bottle with a best before date of March 2021.

An FSAI spokesman said: “This batch of Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce is being recalled due to the risk of the contents exploding once the bottle is opened.

“This poses a risk of hot chili sauce irritating eyes or skin.”
