The dating app consulted gay rights activists and organisations to come up with the list
Tinder users in India will now have the choice of 23 new gender options.
The dating app originally offered two options when selecting their gender: man or woman.
However, users in India will now be able to add information about the orientation they believe represents them most authentically.
The new app update would allow users to type any word that describes their gender identity using the “Edit Info” feature.
Tinder first rolled out this feature with 37 gender options in the US, UK and Canada in 2016.
Since then, similar updates have followed in France, Spain, Germany and Australia.
