A doctor claims around 200 GP surgeries still haven’t received any vaccine doses for the over 85s.

The Health Minister has said the majority of this age cohort will have received their first dose by the end of this week.

The HSE says a ‘relatively small number’ of GP practices are experiencing issues with their vaccine supplies.

The body maintains it’s is on target to administer the first dose of a covid injection to this age cohort by that target.

But Monaghan based GP, Illona Duffy, says there are numerous issues.

It comes after it emerged Ireland missed its target of 100,000 vaccines last week by over 18,000.

One possible reason for that was the delay in delivery of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

Dr. Duffy, says it’s not good enough.

She says patients are getting angry waiting to vaccinate elderly family members, adding to the stress placed on practices.
