Could be a case of not letting the truth get in the way of a good story.
Kiefer Sutherland, better known as his character Jack Bauer from the TV show 24, joined Tubbs on The Late Late Show last night.
He entertained the audience with a candid story about meeting The Pogues frontman Shane McGowan in a Dublin nightclub back in the day.

According to Sutherland, he ran into Sinead O’Connor, Ronnie Wood, Van Morrisson and Shane McGowan having a drink in the legendary Dublin haunt, Lillies Bordello.
He went on to add that he and Shane ended up brawling on the floor after disagreeing about Scottish history.
He maintains that later in the night, Shane McGowan approached him and asked him for a bed for the night and wound up sleeping on his hotel room floor.
The next morning when he woke, there was no sign of Shane McGowan except a handwritten note on top of the folded blankets.
Sutherland described the note saying “it was the most beautiful letter I’d ever read, it was like poetry. And it was just a thank you note, but it was so generous, and the things he had to say about me and our night and humanity. It was quite long.”
The actor added: “I’ve still got the letter to this day, and it changed my perspective, don’t judge a book by it’s cover and very rarely trust first encounters.”
However, all was not as it seemed.
This is absolutely not a true story! It was our friend Rick Trevan who slept in Kiefer s room Shane has never folded anything in his life!!!! Great story though https://t.co/ezZpz6H5NS

Last night Shane McGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke took to Twitter to rubbish the story saying “Shane has never folded anything in his life!!!! Great story though”.
She claims it was the couple’s friend Rick Trevan who stayed in Kiefer’s room and demanded to see the note.
