Trade unions are calling on the government to act.

Dunnes workers will deliver a petition to Head Office in Dublin today over their efforts during the pandemic.

They want their temporary 10% Covid premium and 20% staff discount made permanent.

They'll arrive at Dunnes Stores HQ on South Great George's Street at 1 o'clock this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Taoiseach has been urged to intervene to get recognition for Healthcare workers for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trade unions representing the workers called on Micheal Martin to engage with them on the issue.

The unions say staff morale is being impacted because of the Government's failure to offer extra pay or time off.

Ireland is now one of the few countries in Europe to not formally offer extra pay or time off to health care workers.
