Labour Party Fear Leaving Cert Students Won't Start Uni Until October Unless Results Date Brought Forward

It could be October before students see the inside of lecture halls if the date for Leaving Cert results isn't brought forward, according to the Labour Party.

It says September 3rd is too late, and is calling on the Education Minister to consider the more traditional mid-August release instead.
The party says the decision will delay the start of the academic year and create more anxiety for students.

This year students can opt to sit the exams, take accredited grades or a combination of both.

Education Minister Norma Foley is blaming these "demands on the system" for the delay in issuing results.
