ALL the Christmas nostalgia.

Picture the scene...

You're curled up on the couch with your siblings. You've the popcorn in front of you, a selection box by your side and you're gearing up to watch the Big Big Movie the weekend before Christmas. Back then, we had no phones or iPads to keep us entertained during the ad breaks so instead, we just watched the ads.

Wild, I know.

Here are some of the more memorable ones:

1. Coca Cola - Holidays Are Coming

When you say 'Christmas ads' this is the first one to spring to mind. Nothing gets the hairs on your arm to stand up straight and put you in the instant Christmas buzz like the Coca Cola advert featuring the caravan of Coca Cola trucks which first hit TV screens in 1995!

2. An Post - We're Walking In The Air

This classic from An Post is taken from another classic, The Snowman. An Post cleverly put their own twist on it at the end and you knew Santa was around the corner when you heard that music...

3. Kellogg's - Ho Ho Ho

Still as cute as ever, this advert from Kellogg's brings us right back. If you want to feel extra old, the little blonde girl from the ad got married in 2013. Mind-blowing!

4. ESB - Going Home

Trust Dusty Springfield to make this advert a real tear-jerker which starred  a very young Alan Hughes playing a son returning home to his Mammy and Daddy for Christmas!

5. Guinness - Happy Christmas From the Home of the Black Stuff

Nothing quite tells the beauty of Ireland like shots of iconic places across the city covered in snow. This ad proves that our little country is only magical in the winter time.

6. Budweiser Christmas Advert 1987

One of the oldest adverts to feature our list, this one really gets the foot tapping! And as for those horses? Powerful.

7. Sainsbury's World War I

This one really gets the goosebumps going. They teamed up with The Royal British Legion to tell the story of one of the most infamous stories from WWI when the Brits and the Germans emerged from their trenches and played a game of football together on Christmas Day.
