Shakespeare plays for Junior and Leaving Cert students will be screened on TV

As the students around the country prepare for the Leaving and Junior Certificate exams, their is now an opportunity to view Shakespeare's plays on TV.

RTÉ has announced that it plans to show a series of productions of William Shakespeare's plays, aimed at Leaving and Junior Certificate students.

The screenings will accommodate all cycles and levels as Shakespeare is compulsory for Higher Level students but is optional for those studying at Ordinary level.

The first productions to be aired include the current 2020 curriculum for Leaving Certificate students, Hamlet and The Tempest.

The following week, King Lear which is part of the 2021 curriculum will be broadcast.

All productions for the 2020 and 2021 Junior Certificate will be aired as well. Including: A Midsummer Night's Dream, As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar and Romeo and Juliet.

If you miss any of the productions, they are available for 30 days after they are aired on RTÉ Player

A Midsummer Night’s Dream - 19/04/20 RTÉ2, 10.35am

As You Like It - 25/04/20 RTÉ2, 9.45 am

Much Ado About Nothing - 26/04/20 RTÉ2, 10.10am

Julius Ceasar - 02/05/20 RTÉ2, 10.20am

Romeo and Juliet - 03/05/20 RTÉ2, Time TBC
