7 Deadly Sins of Job Search:

Only Targeting Low Hanging Fruit

★ Most job seekers spend 100% of time targeting 30% of jobs (advertised)

★ Did you know that 70% of jobs are never advertised?

★ Get proactive to get hired!!

★ How? Network (real world, social media)

Not Being Social Media Savvy

★ Many job seekers are not tapping into the potential of social media

★ Any platform can work, but I would start with LinkedIn

Acting Like A Zebra

★ Most job seekers are blending in with the crowd, instead of standing out

★ They use bland, generic clichés on their CV (often stolen content)

★ They use Google searches to find generic answers to interview questions

★ Try to differentiate yourself to stand out and get noticed

Not Selling Yourself

★ Employers are not interested in duties or responsibilities

★ Emphasise achievements on your CV and during job interviews

Spending Too Long Writing Cover Letters

★ Cover letters are a waste of time. It is rare they will be read

★ Only send a cover letter if requested

★ Do not spend more than 20 minutes writing a cover letter

Mannequin at Interview

★ Most job seekers are too stiff and formal at interview

★ People hire people, not qualifications and experience

★ The best qualified and experienced applicant does not always get the job

★ You MUST get personality and energy (interest) across during interview

Trying to Building The Wings On The Way Down

★ Cutting corners is a sin!!

★ Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!!
