A man in his 60s has been arrested.
The elderly woman killed in an assault in North Dublin has been described as a ‘lovely lady’.
The body of the woman in her 80s was found at her home in Kincora Court in Clontarf last night.
She was attacked at her home here in Kincora Court in Clontarf last night, which is located at a cul de sac in the quiet housing estate.
A man in his 60s known to the victim was arrested at the scene and brought to Clontarf Garda Station.
A local man in the area said people in the housing estate are shocked.
''Unbelievable I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning. It's really sad, really sad,'' he told Newstalk.
Detectives have today been examining the house where the incident took place.
