The three biggest teaching unions have threatened a possible strike as they call to be prioritised for Covid-19 vaccines.

This morning the ASTI, TUI and INTO all supported a ballot of industrial action up to strikes.

The government recently changed the vaccine rollout plan. Vaccines will now be given out solely based solely on age, rather than a person’s job.

Any strike is unlikely to happen before schools close in June, and it’s planned that all adults will have at least got their first jab by the time they reopen in September.

Education Minister Norma Foley yesterday ruled out any change to the rollout plan.
