It's after the Government called off an RIC commemoration ceremony.
The Wolfe Tones' rebel song 'Come out Ye Black N Tans' has hit the top of the iTunes charts in both the UK and Ireland.
It's after the Government was forced to postpone a commemoration ceremony for the Royal Irish Constabulary. The event was due to be held at Dublin Castle later this month.
The Government planned to remember those involved in the police force that pre-dated An Garda Siochana. However it was faced with a major backlash from the public and fellow politicians due to the RIC's association with the Black and Tans and the Auxiliaries during the War of Independence.
Yesterday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar described the decision to defer the commemoration as a "setback" for a united Ireland. He said:
"It is my deep regret that this week embracing that shared history moving towards a united Ireland feels to be a little bit further away than it was before".
"And I regret that this is a setback for unity and a setback for reconciliation”.
The Government says it still wants to go ahead with the ceremony in the months ahead but a new date has yet to be set.
