Heavy duvet required.

While we may have escaped January's clutches it seems winter isn't ready to let go yet.

Met Éireann's forecast for the week makes for chilly reading, especially for the first part.

Monday night will see temperatures drop to about 1 degree, but then Tuesday night will see them go as low as -3 in places, with sharp and severe frost anticipated across most of the country.

Wednesday will be slightly better, getting as warm as 10 degrees during the day, but dropping back down to freezing that night.

Things are expected to stay pretty much like that until the weekend, but while it is still several days out, next weekend is set to bring "unsettled weather with spells of wet and windy weather and possibly very windy conditions on Sunday".

Hot water bottles will be very much required!
