Three of Ireland’s leading cancer charities; Breast Cancer Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Marie Keating Foundation, have joined forces to 'Face Up To Cancer'.

These charities have joined together to raise significant funds for cancer research and support services across Ireland ahead of World Cancer Day on Sunday 4th February.

On average we lose one person per hour to cancer in Ireland and sadly one person is diagnosed with cancer every 15 minutes.

How can you take part?

  • Take a photo (or pick a photo of a loved one) and upload it to the campaign website here.
  • Donate to Face Up To Cancer.
  • Once a donation is made, your selfie image will be returned to you with a special Face Up To Cancer branded ‘frame’ for sharing across your own social channels using the hashtags #FaceUpToCancer or #DonateASelfieSaveLives, encouraging others to do the same.
  • If you would rather just simply donate, you can do this on the website.

Each individual image will ultimately form part of a unique facial mosaic, using the thousands of selfies submitted.

What will the funds go towards?

  • Investment into research of Breast Metastatic Disease Progression to the brain.
  • Investment in research delivering better ways to detect and treat lung, pancreatic, ovarian, oesophageal (food pipe) and other hard to treat cancers.
  • On the ground Cancer Awareness and Support Services for those living with or beyond cancer and their families.
