The weekend is expected to start off dry tomorrow with good sunny spells.
Forecasters say that Monday is likely to be the warmest day, with highs of 18 degrees in places.
A Met Éireann forecaster said: "Relatively cool and showery today (Friday). The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the north and northwest, merging into longer spells of rain here with the risk of hail and thunder.
"Some sunny spells too, the best of these early on in the day; driest and mildest conditions holding across southern counties.
"Highest temperatures will range 9 and 13 degrees Celsius, in moderate to fresh west to northwest breezes.
"Showers will become confined to north and northwest counties by early tonight. Overall dry with long clear spells and just light northwest breezes. Chilly; lowest temperatures ranging 1 to 5 degrees Celsius, coldest across Munster with some possible grass frost here.
"Dry on Saturday, apart from passing showers for northern coasts. Sunny spells to begin and end the day, but becoming cloudier during the afternoon. Feeling a little milder than recent days with highest temperatures ranging 11 to 15 degrees Celsius, mildest across the south midlands and east.
"Current indications suggest most areas should remain dry on Sunday with sunny spells and just light variable breezes. Highest temperatures will range 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, mildest across the midlands and west. Chilly after dark with lowest temperatures ranging 2 to 6 degrees Celsius."
However things are expected to cool off somewhat come Tuesday.
