Hairdressers aren't due to reopen until July 20th under current measures.
The Irish Hairdressers Federation has today published its extensive guidelines which will allow hair salons to reopen safely in Phase 3.
Currently salons are due to open up in the final phase on July 20th, but the Irish Hairdressers Federation says with certain measures in place, they could safely reopen during Phase 3 (June 29th).
The list of 100 recommendations includes PPE for stylists and customers, Covid 19 training for staff, work stations being fully sanitised after each appointment and customers phone numbers being recorded for contact tracing.
Among the main recommendations are:
- Extensive use of PPE for stylists and customers
- Covid-19 training for all staff
- Screening of customers when taking bookings
- Full sanitisation of workstations after each customers
- Salon visits and customer phone numbers recorded for contact tracing
- No magazines or reading material to be provided
"As an industry, we have always practiced dutiful care in the delivery of our services to our clients in a professional, efficient, hygienic and sanitary manner," said the IHF.
"As professionals and indeed as citizens, we understand the importance of preventing the spread of Covid-19, in how we operate our environment and in how we deliver our services.
"Our clients have always felt and will continue to feel safe within our professional working environment. As an industry we will achieve this by layering the guidance outlined in this document with issued Public Health Advice, on top of our already robust operational protocols."
