Ireland's first baby of 2022 born just ONE second after midnight

Ireland’s first baby of 2022 was born at a second past midnight.

The baby girl was born at the National Maternity Hospital on Holles Street in Dublin.

Her parents Celina and Nathan Burke, from Clongriffin, Dublin are overjoyed with their first baby.

Their daughter weighed 6lbs 6oz. They have not yet decided on a name.

Meanwhile, one of the first babies was born at a minute and a half past midnight at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

Another early arrival was at Limerick hospital, with baby Ruth born at 14 seconds past midnight to mum Jennifer Leahy from Croagh, Co. Limerick.

Her three sisters Emma, Lucy and Isabel; and Dad Patrick Horgan are delighted with their new family member.

Meanwhile, the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin welcomed its first baby of 2022 at 1.37am.

Baby Carter was born in the hospital to parents Ciara and Graham Claxton from Hollystown, Dublin.

The first baby of the year born at the Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe was at 4.36am.

Baby girl Casey Cunningham was born to Ballyforan, Co. Roscommon resident Naomi Nixon.

It's the first child for Naomi and Dad Mark Cunningham.
