Irish people are set to become the biggest online shoppers in Europe.

Irish people are on-course to become the biggest purchasers of goods online in Europe.

The new Eurostat purchasing power survey has revealed that during the pandemic, 69 per cent of Irish people shopped online abroad.

Only people in Luxembourg purchased more online than Irish people during 2021.

Dr. Cyril Sullivan of the European Consumer Centre says Irish people are ahead of most European countries when it comes to using online technology.

Dr. Sullivan explained that as an island we don't not have border countries like other European countries would.

From an Irish point of view, having access to online purchasing means we can buy goods far beyond our borders.

Because of this, Dr. Sullivan claims:  "the Irish have adopted the technology in their droves"
