"He's an Irish icon and has my respect."
A heated war of words between Johnny Logan and Dickie Rock has ended in an apology to the latter, following comments Logan made in an interview published over the weekend.
Logan said: "What would Dickie Rock know about being a musician?” My life was a lot different from Dickie’s. Dickie’s idea of an international tour was to have a gig in England."
He also said that Rock is a "legend in his own head", and that he lives in a fantasy world.
Rock then replied, saying: "Give Johnny a hug? I’d give him a f*****g box. I’m 82. Even now I’d give him a box."
Image via dickierock.ieHowever Logan has since moved dissolve the dispute before any 'boxing' could transpire, after he apologised for the initial comments.
He said: "Last week I did an interview with The Times (Irish Times) newspaper in which I was asked to make a comment a statement Dickie had made.
"I told the reporter that it was none of her business which was fair enough but then went on to make some remarks about Dickie which at the time I meant jokingly.
"I regret those remarks and now I apologise to Dickie. Dickie and I have been friends for many years and I hope that no lasting damage has been done to our friendship. He's an Irish icon and has my respect."
Michael is a huge fan of Dickie Rock and he heard about this story on the radio this morning.

Since then, Rock has also made peace, saying: "Johnny Logan was and still is a gentleman and a great performer. We were all friends in this crazy business and we still will be going forward."
We're glad they're back on good terms.
