The series wrapped up on RTÉ last night.
The director of Normal People says there are currently no plans to make a second season.
The TV series, which is based on Sally Rooney's novel, came to a close for viewers in Ireland last night. It has gained a global audience including celebrities such as Kourtney Kardashian who has called for a second season.
Despite that, the director of the show Lenny Abrahamson says there are no plans to continue Connell and Marianne's story on screen.
"In a way, it's the end of the story in that, that's where Sally [Rooney] left it in the book", he explained.
"In terms of the story and what it says about the characters, it is open and there's no plan at all for a second season in a traditional sense of 'oh, let's just pick up where we left off in the first season'"
