An online scam has emerged targeting students going to the USA on the J1 visa.
The scam comes in the form of websites grossly overcharging for visa forms.
Generally it costs a student around 12 euro for an ESTA form, which is a requirement for any Irish person going to America.
However, there's warnings of a number of unofficial third party websites charging up to €130 for the same form.
The US Embassy in Dublin recommends that people use the official ESTA registration website.
