One little chain. Over €70,000 for charity.
Paul Mescal's chain has racked up over €70k for Pieta House. The chain was raffled off to raise funds for the service after their flagship fundraiser Darkness Into Light was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Last month, the Normal People actor announced that he had teamed up with the charity to raffle off a personal chain and raise vital funds for the organisation.
The closing time to enter the raffle was 2pm today and according to Pieta's website, the fundraiser has racked up €70,235 (at the time of writing). The raffle will take place this afternoon via a live stream on Pieta's Facebook page and organisers say the winner will then be contacted via email.
Speaking at the launch of the raffle, Paul Mescal, said;
“I am delighted to be able to help out Pieta by raffling off my chain that has taken on a following of its own since Normal People hit television screens.
"Pieta is a cause very close to my heart, having experienced loss due to suicide in my local town while growing up.
"Episode 10 of Normal People also touches upon depression and suicidal ideation, so it seemed like a very special partnership to want to help those in similar situations. I want to play my part in helping sustain these free services across Ireland.”
