Over 220,000 people are currently receiving the PUP.

Today is the final day for people to apply to receive the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.

The payment will continue for current recipients before being phased out in stages.

Under the government's economic recovery plan, the PUP will be phased out through reductions in its value from September.

It's due to be abolished altogether in February 2022.

However, the scheme will close to new entrants from tomorrow, after being extended by an extra seven days due to the delay in reopening indoor dining.

If a person loses their job from 8th July onwards, they will need to apply for the Jobseeker’s payment instead.
