We're being urged to use our vote.
We're being reminded to make sure we're registered to vote ahead of the upcoming general election.
Almost 700,000 people aged between 18 and 29 are eligible to vote, including the thousands who've turned 18 since last year's local and European elections. If you're not 18 yet but you will be by February 8th, you can still register to vote.
The deadline is Wednesday 22nd January and there's still time to check and get yourself on the register. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Step One:
Visit the CheckTheRegister website to see if you're already on the register. If you are, you don't need to do anything. However if your name is not there, proceed to step 2.
Step Two:
Download the RFA2 form from the site and fill it out. Make sure you don't fill out the bit that needs to be witnessed and signed by a Garda.
Step Three:
Take the partially completed form to your local Garda station (a Garda station near where you want to use your vote). That part needs to be signed and witnessed by a member of An Garda Síochána.
Step Four:
Bring the completed form to your local city or county council. If you're posting it there you need to send it today (Tuesday). Alternatively, you can or hand-deliver it to your local city or county council by Wednesday.
