''It's going to continue right through the afternoon and into the early evening.''
Met Eireann says snow showers won't die off until overnight tonight, as a yellow warning for snow and ice remains in place for the entire country.
Conditions are worst along the west coast, where there's also a yellow wind warning in place for seven counties.
Met Eireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly said we can expect wintry showers for the rest of the day:
''It's going to continue right through the afternoon and into the early evening.
''They'll probably start to ease up overnight tonight because the winds will start to slacken off somewhat.''
Meanwhile AA Roadwatch is urging drivers to take care in the slippery conditions.
