Spotify has increased the price Vodafone Ireland customers have to pay.

From this month, Vodafone customers will no longer get a reduced rate for the streaming service.

Up until now, those who opted into a Spotify add-on as part of their plan were charged €5.99 a month - a discount on the usual €9.99 a month.

A spokesperson for Vodafone Ireland told Newstalk:

“Vodafone continues to offer Spotify Premium as an add-on service, and as part of our student Vodafone X music offer.

"Customers who currently have Spotify Premium included as part of their plan will continue to have access to the service until their contract expires and or they change plans.

"At that point those customers can still continue to choose Spotify as an add-on.

"A 30-day notification was issued to all customers who avail of Spotify Premium as an add-on service notifying them of the change of price at their next renewal date."
